After a month of messing with these oats I think I’ve finally figured this out! Lots of thanks for Peter’s mom for her help :)

Ingredients for a delicious bowl of apple-cinnamon oats:

grated apples

steel-cut oats

3 small apples, grated
1 c steel-cut oats
2 c water
1 T cinnamon
1 or 2 T maple syrup

1. Boil the water.

2. Throw all of the ingredients in the water and give everything a good stir. Keep the heat on low from now on. It will look kind of unappetizing for a while so just leave it alone for a few minutes.

3. All of a sudden A LOT of the moisture will have been absorbed. At this point, don’t walk away! Or else you will have a solid burnt mass on your hands. From here on out just keep stirring until the consistency is to your taste.

4. Grab a lid and cover the oats for a few minutes to let the oats finish absorbing.

5. Serve and enjoy! This also tastes great with some berries and nuts thrown in.
